Soooooo I'm a bit of a wreck this week..yup yup I am.
It is beyond crazy with to-do lists and dinners with friends and last minute things as we pack up Alexa to leave for college on Friday. So I've slacked from the blog to spend time as a family and get all our stuff done before we get on the road. And with Alexa sharing an apartment with 3 other girls we had to outfit her with a lot of things that you wouldn't get for just a dorm room. So we've been busy and its all good busy and spending quality time as a family.
So please bare with me while I get this crazy girl settled at the Univ of South Carolina and muddle through my own emotions. I promise to get some posts up late next week when I'm somewhat back to normal. This has been pretty hard emotionally so I'm struggling as is the hubs...but its all good and we are proud of her and so excited for her new journey the next few years.
But I'm a momma....you know what I mean...its hard.
The Dean 4-pack is shrinking to a 3-pack and I'm not so thrilled about it!
Awe, Hun...I'd be a wreck too. Actually, I've been that wreck several times before. LOL
ReplyDeleteJust takes a little time to get used to not having her around. So happy for Alexa though, now that she is creating her own journey.
Can't wait to see your posts next week. Been missin' ya. sniff, sniff...
Hugz,
Cath
Thanks Cathy! She's having a blast, making friends and enjoying her classes & the campus so that helps. Its the little things that have been hard: not having her to cook with, shop with, watch our fave shows....the boys aren't into that stuff so its a bit lonely without her. But I will learn to adjust right? Trying anyway! Miss ya & love ya!
DeleteIt's all good. I have been there with my kids and also one granddaughter that we raised and then she went off to college. I say that Family always trumps everything else!!! Enjoy your time with your daughter!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Char! Family is always #1 for sure!
DeleteYou have every right to be a wreck. I know how close you are to your kiddos. I hope you are feeling better after your surgery and get your spirits back up once Alexa is settled in. Tell her she is lucky, I had to live in the dorms for the first 2 years of college. It wasn't bad, I didn't get to pick my roomie, but I would have much preferred an apartment! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim! I told her she was super lucky to be in an apt style dorm and pick her roomie...I sure didn't either LOL. She's having a blast & texting regularly so that helps me a little. Just hard stuff right now but I will survive. Hugs~
DeleteYou have a very full plate right now. Great pics! Love the family one of you all and love daddy and his baby girl at Disney too!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot on your plate so make sure you enjoy your family time! Thanks for sharing the great pics!
ReplyDeleteAfter my first 2 left for college I didn't do too badly, but I was a wreck when our youngest left last year and it took me a good 2 weeks to get out of my funk! Alexa will have the time of her life away at college, but as close knit a family as you are, I'm sure she will be missing you guys too and be sending lots of texts and phone calls your way! Hang in there momma, and know a few extra prayers will be coming your way the next few weeks! :0)
ReplyDeleteAlexa and I are super close and now its just the boys and me...so the change in the house is very noticeable...its been hard. She always liked to do the "girly" stuff with me and my son is soooo NOT interested LOL. One day at a time is how I'm managing and trying to stay busy too. Hugs~
DeleteWowza, I can only imagine all the emotions and feelings you must be having right about now. I think it might really set in when the time comes where she'd normally stroll in, or you pass by places you two frequented, and such. As hard as it is, you must know she is a really awesome kid. I dont just mean grade wise because a lot of other things come into play when a kid takes on a challenge as big as she is. Moving away from home (and an awesome family) will be hard on her too. I know you will all make it work, I'm getting a lump in my throat thinking about how I will feel when my daughter is ready to fly the coop? She's a sophmore and my son is in 5th grade; I'll have him but like you said going from 4 to 3 will be a change. I wish you all the best Suzanne, and remember don't apologize for the lack of blogging, we'll be here on the other end waiting for you. Family first ~
ReplyDeleteYeah its been all the little things that have been setting me off...just when I think I have a handle on it all BOOM I'm crying again LOL. I'm a mess I tell ya, but slowly starting to adjust. Being able to text & skype regularly has helped too! Thanks so much!
